Angela and I are very concerned for our 5 children and 13 grandchildren. Never in American history have generations been told they may face a declining standard of living, and such scarcity of good jobs, or had their futures mortgaged by crushing government debts. Young people believe they'll never benefit from their Social Security payments. Jefferson said government is "unauthorized to saddle posterity with our debts and morally bound to pay them."
Exploding government debts, with budget-swallowing interest payments crowding out other needs, are darkening our future. America is increasingly indebted to nations like China to which we dare not entrust our future. As many individuals have lost control of their destiny to debt collectors and foreclosures, creditors also begin to tell nations what to do in order to keep borrowing. So America is risking its sovereignty to foreign-nation lenders.
The "Debt Threat" and loss of jobs, are not only tragic, they're unnecessary. Then instead of letting old, failed business models die, lobbyists demanded billionaire bailouts. These long term life-supports further reduced competition. Businesses became increasingly deadened by bureaucracy. More jobs were lost.
As too many instructions cause computers to crash, mind-numbing regulations and taxes have frozen our free enterprise system, crashing our economy!
The solution is to reduce taxes and regulations so businesses can trust government not to meddle, and start investing and expanding again. Hundreds of billions are sitting on the sidelines because they can't trust Congress. With trust re-established, businesses will expand and create jobs. For Delaware that could mean a successor to the Financial Services industry, perhaps in the form of the Delaware Technology Park opportunities flowing from Aberdeen investments.
As a Presidential Appointee, I had great seats for the Reagan Revolution. The "Ma-Bell" monopoly ended, and the Telecommunications Revolution started. Cell phones, the Internet, Facebook and Twitter eventually replaced ten-pound desk phones. With competition, we can do the same cost-cutting and service-increasing, in healthcare and other areas. As under Coolidge, Kennedy and Reagan, cutting taxes and regulations will unleash enterprises to produce jobs. The debts enslaving our kids and our nation will be reduced, and their hope for better futures assured. Then, as in the past, America's progress will help the whole world, creating better relationships based on deeds, instead of apologies.
While I have 12 years of Washington experience, I've never taken a dime from the special interest machines, and I knew when to come home. I'm not dependent on government for a job, not an entrenched incumbent. I can truly represent you and our children, not the special interests. Together we will have a better, freer future.

One great grandfather sold himself as an indentured servant to get to America. Another fled Germany. Avoiding debt and totalitarianism is my heritage. My Dad went to work as a teenager to support his family during the Great Depression, when his father was burnt in a boiler explosion.
